Global Conference Internationlisation of Higher Education

The Rationale Participants in the first Global Dialogue on Higher Education Internationalisation (January 2014) indicated a need for a Global Conference on Higher Education Internationalisation to take place every four years. The challenge in arranging such a conference would be to find the time in an already overburdened annual conference schedule. As a solution, the Global Conference will be scheduled to replace the next International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA) Conference. IEASA decided that it would forfeit its 2016 conference and arrange the Global Conference in the place of its 20th Conference.

The Vision of IEASA, as well as other similar associations who will be involved in the organisation of this conference, is to provide a common platform for Higher Education educators, professionals and other interested parties to deliberate and explore the current and future challenges facing Higher Education, specifically concerning its internationalisation endeavours. This conference should provide a platform where all can meet to deliberate without fear of domination of one over the other. The conference will be arranged in the true spirit of UBUNTU where all participants will aim to improve the other and not the self.

The Call for Papers is currently open, closing on the 15th April 2016. The conference will take place in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. In this iconic nature reserve attendees will be able to live close to nature and deliberate on those ‘big questions’ influencing Higher Education Internationalisation in particular, as well as matters relating to International Higher Education. The conference will pay particular attention to the existing divide between developed and developing environments.

The conference organisers will endeavour to bring together participants who are truly representative of the Global World of Higher Education.
