Cine-Imagining Mexico - Macario (1960)
Almost everyone has certain images of Mexico in their memory. Most of them were, either produced or disseminated through cinema. Some of them are real, some other not. Some remain some other fade, but definitely, we may consider them ephemeral snapshots of the past. How these ephemeral features have become iconic or even stereotypical? How important they are to shape Mexico’s image and identity around the world? This cinema screening series aims to go deeper into these questions and exploring the way iconic films have become a beyond-borders ephemeral cultural heritage.
