Over the last two decades, almost every country that has taken up tuition policy has moved to charge fees, not to rescind them. Most notably, universities in Britain, which were free until the late 1990s, have nearly tripled their tuition fees in recent years.

In May 2013, President Barack Obama and President Enrique Peña Nieto announced the U.S.-Mexico Bilateral Forum on Higher Education, Innovation and Research (herein referred to as FOBESII) to expand opportunities for educational exchanges, scientific research partnerships, and cross-border innovation. The goal was to help both countries develop a 21st century workforce for our mutual economic prosperity and sustainable social development. The official launching of FOBESII took place on May 21, 2014, during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to Mexico City.

Over January and February of 2015, Denver-based nonprofit US-Brazil Connect will host 107 of Brazil’s top science, technology, engineering and math high school students to locations around the US. The visit is a reward for the students’ stellar participation in the nonprofit’s Conexão Mundo Program (World Connect Program), but also serves to expose Brazil’s top students to US industry and education to build economic opportunity through cultural connection.

Drake University offers one of the most valuable marketing degrees in the nation, according to a new list by College Factual.

The higher education ranking website said Drake's undergraduate marketing major is the 14th best value in the nation. The list, featured recently by USA Today College, assigned value rankings by comparing estimated average starting salaries and mid-career salaries for graduates of marketing programs across the United States. The website says Drake's marketing graduates have an estimated starting salary of $38,000 and a mid-career salary of $93,000.

Based on a packaged software platform from Oracle/PeopleSoft called Campus Solutions — currently used at more than 25 educational institutions across Canada — the new SIS will replace an aging in-house system that no longer meets the university’s expanding and future needs.
