History:

The University of Potsdam, the largest university in Brandenburg, was founded in 1991. The University is oriented towards interdisciplinary research profiles and research in natural sciences, human sciences, the humanities and social sciences. The University’s research focus is currently focused on the topics of cognitive sciences, earth sciences, functional ecology and evolution, plant genomics and systems biology. 

This research based University strives to prepare 20,609 students through the teaching of cross-subject key competences and research-based knowledge in internationally compatible programs with more that 309 professors and 617+ academic staff. Teaching at the University of Potsdam is always strongly informed by up-to-date research and driven by the latest scientific findings. Students can enjoy the vast diversity of programs which include more that 28+ academic departments of study in the fields of Law, Arts, Human Sciences, Economics & Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, and Education. Other than preparing at a national level, the University offers international experiences for their students through 54 university partnerships and 17 faculty partnerships.
