Located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa ​(UNI) ​is a mid-sized university with approximately ​12​,000 students. The Cedar Falls-Waterloo community has around 130,000 people, and is within driving distance to Minneapolis, Kansas City and Chicago. This area provides a safe, clean and diverse environment for international students to experience American culture and prepare for study at UNI or other universities or colleges in the United States. True to its roots, UNI  emphasizes hands-on service learning and retains the proud distinction of leading Iowa’s number-one teacher education program. Today’s UNI also offers more than 90 majors to choose from, giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of interests and prepare for success after college. Outside of the classroom, UNI’s vibrant campus is home to 300+ student clubs and organizations, 17 Division I collegiate sports teams, a multitude of fine arts options, and more.
