Building Competencies for Global Life Sciences Research, Development and Manufacturing Organization through Custom Designed Advanced Level Courses.

A research-driven organization requires competencies in various subject domains to fuel its growth and gain a competitive edge in the global market. Therefore, building competencies is one of the major challenges. A series of advanced level courses had been designed to cater to the needs of one of the most diverse life sciences companies in South Asia. The courses were custom designed in the domains of fundamental research in life sciences, engineering, bio-pharmaceuticals manufacturing, clinical research, quality management, medico-marketing, agricultural farm management and farm advocacy. While designing the courses, efforts were in place to make every course interdisciplinary involving various domains of science, engineering and medicine. The courses also included a holistic approach to developing responsible citizen through modules on behavioral aspects of a profession. Various institutions in India and the U.S.A. were involved in designing and delivering the curriculum. The challenges faced during course design and curriculum delivery through multi-institute collaboration will be discussed.
