This year, the National University community celebrates Dr. Jerry C. Lee's tenth anniversary as its president. Dr. Lee came to National University, California's third largest private institution of higher education dedicated to serving a diverse population of adult learners, in June of 1989, following a career as an executive at General Motors Corporation, Commercial Credit Industrial Corporation and as Vice President for Administration and Business and then President of Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C. Dr. Lee received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and his master's and doctoral degrees in higher education administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Lee's commitment to American higher education includes service as chair of accreditation teams for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and terms on the President's Commission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Board of Directors of the American Association of University Administrators (AAUA), and the American Council on Education's Commission on Women in Higher Education.
